Lee Crawford - Engine Inspection Report - 07/06/21
As a result of one or two rumours going around the British F2 paddock with regards to Lee Crawford’s engine: given it was due for a refresh after the last Scarborough meeting I decided to strip and measure his engine - number N738114419 - which is the engine he has used all season at Brands Hatch, Donington & Scarborough.
The engine was stripped by Tony Baker and myself (John Smith) to either confirm or dispense with the rumours I’ve heard in the paddock. Our findings are:
- The Throttle Bodies & Injectors are untouched and standard, although the second butterflies are locked open (which is legal to do).
- The inlet & exhaust cams both have standard lift - as checked against two sets of standard basic cams (remember we only check the lift as the duration is free).
- The bore is 67mm. Stroke is 42.5 mm. Which = 599.3 cc
Therefore both Tony Baker and myself confirm this engine is totally legal as per our British F2 Championship rules.
I may also confirm that a seven speed gearbox is totally legal in our rules as everything below the head gasket including the head gasket is free as per the ACU handbook.
